Record Players
|
The first phonograph was invented by Thomas Edison in 1878. Throughout history changes and modifications were done, the standard or record player was born. Back in the old days they called them phonographs or victrola. Emile Berliner’s phonograph was the first instrument to record music, the first phonograph by Thomas Edison was the first one to be used as an instrument to be used in office buildings to take dictation.
Turntables and record players later became the more popular name for the device.Thoughthe Gramophone was widely popular, people just did not use it after 1910, though most people don’t know this but the Grammy Awards are based on the work Gramophone. They first began as record players as instruments by them selves, no other accessories just the record player and then after that the record player and the 8 track stereo cam into play in the 60’s and 70’s.Steroes in the 70’s were called Hi-Fi’s.
Then in the late 70’s and early 80’s the 8 tracks began to fade and cassettes came into play, the record player in the stereo and the cassette deck and then the dual cassettes moved in and in the late 80’s there were no more record players just cassettes and finally we have the CD and the CD player. Turn tables are still used by DJ’s who spin their records and create mixes. If you have a vintage record player, hold on to it, it may be worth something one day.
